Martin Luther King Memorial
Mid January celebrates Martin Luther King day and we decided to visit the birthplace of the man himself. We took Marta to downtown Atlanta and made it to Dr. King's church just in time to hear a commemorative service. There was no room inside Ebenezer baptist church so we sat outside and listened to the choir and service on the big screen with most of the media and press. We wandered around several points of interest, including Dr. King's grave and home. I'm glad we stopped because we discovered he is being moved this year when the Dr. King memorial opens in DC.
While we weren't the only Caucasians there, there was by far a minority ratio. It could have been that the teeny tiny bit of snow on the ground kept everyone home. Still, when I posted pictures of our outing it received little response on facebook. I admire the man's vision and courage to go against social injustices in spite of consequences. If only we could all dream like you, Dr. King.
